Hey FOTA followers! Feeling a kind of separation anxiety from your most favorite arts RSO? I know, long distance relationships are hard. We miss you too. In the meantime, though, you can still fill your summer days with arts galore, especially if you live in Chicago.
Check out the Pilsen neighborhood Second Fridays and Brave New Art World River North art crawls. Second Fridays happen every, you guessed it, second Friday of the month centered at 18th and S. Halstead from 6-10 pm. The next one is this Friday, August 9th! Brave New Art World is a new art crawl extravaganza founded by Claire Molek. It happens every first Thursday of the month in River North, centered at Franklin and Superior, from 5-8 pm. Both of these will give you a great taste of the Chicago gallery scene (plus a great taste of noms because there is usually free food at both crawls).
Another event happening this weekend is called Figment that is self-described as “an explosion of creative energy.” It’s a weekend filled with participatory art and culture, and it’s taking over Garfield Conservatory Park August 10th and 11th from noon-9 pm and noon-5 pm respectively. They encourage you to bring your own artwork to join in the fun! Do it to it, FOTA.
Best part? All three events are free!
