What is FOTA?
FOTA is a student RSO at the University of Chicago that stands for Festival of the Arts. Currently made up of a board of sixteen members, FOTA works to promote student artwork on campus through exhibitions, programming, and funded projects. Every year FOTA hosts the FOTA Spring Arts Week that features over 40 student artists of all media (visual, theater, music, etc) as well as other arts RSO’s in a week-long collaborative event. When the board is not planning for the big Spring Arts Week, they are working hard to display artwork in student cafes like Hallowed Grounds and Harper as well as putting on the FOTA Film Challenge and a Poster Sale.
What is FOTA Spring Arts Week?
FOTA Spring Arts Week is seven days of visual art, installations, live musical performances, a fashion show, theater, and much more. The week begins with a Launch Party that features a fashion show created by members of MODA’s Designer Boot Camp. Following the Launch, the festival continues with an event every day from an art-making workshop with Outside the Lines and live theater and musical performances. It is an eclectic week representing the range of bold and insightful work being made on campus.
